Training for the "Sport" of Pregnancy and Motherhood

Whether or not you consider yourself to be an athlete, or have been one in the past, one thing is true: pregnancy and motherhood are very much like a sport.

The demands on your body are significant!

The entire journey from conception through motherhood requires incredible strength, endurance, mobility, healing, and rebuilding. Not to mention the mental stamina needed.

I've been an athlete for most of my life. I've played over 14 years of competitive volleyball, did the Spartan trifecta, trained for half marathons and a full (I don't really enjoy running long distance anymore, lol).

Would I have EVER showed up to those events without training? No way. That would be absolutely miserable for all involved.

Something I often hear from expecting and current moms is “I just want to ENJOY this season and feel good.” And here's the thing, you CAN.

Just like athletes train for their big event in order to perform better AND have more fun… you can also train and prepare your body for what's to come. That doesn't mean you need to approach it with the intensity of an olympic athlete. Intention over intensity in this scenario.

In this podcast episode, we're diving into this perspective that will change the way you approach exercise, for the better.

In This Episode You’ll Learn:

  • My views on exercise prior to my first pregnancy versus now

  • Why we need to view pregnancy and motherhood as a sport

  • Common exercise mistakes I see moms making

  • The game-changing shift that will motivate you to stay active
