Managing Gestational Diabetes with Nutrition & Exercise in Pregnancy
Gestational diabetes (GD) happens in about 2-10% of pregnancies (according to the CDC) and , unfortunately, cannot be prevented. GD has everything to do with the placenta and changing hormonal demands, and rarely anything to do with you eating too much sugar.
I personally felt very shocked and defeated when I learned I had GD. I’ve always been a health-conscious person when it comes to nutrition and exercise, and didn’t have it with my last pregnancy. I wanted to blame myself for having “more ice cream” than I should have and various other reasons. But I’ve come to learn it truly isn’t something that can be prevented.
In this episode I share more of the thoughts and experience I’m having with GD, as well as the nutrition and exercise habits I’ve started to be EVEN MORE intentional about to control my blood sugar.
Whether you have GD, simply want to learn more about it, or want to set yourself up for a healthy foundation in pregnancy, this episode will give you some actionable tips and strategies you can weave into your lifestyle!
